Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until creamy. Add the beaten egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Mash the ripe bananas with a fork and fold them into the wet mixture until fully incorporated.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in the chopped walnuts gently.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
